Experience diversity: Exciting events in Bremerhaven and Cuxhaven!
There are numerous events on the program in Bremerhaven and Cuxhaven this long weekend. From October 30th to November 2nd there is something for every age group and every interest area. The city is divided into a variety of activities that include events from art to music to impressive film screenings.
On Thursday, October 30th, there will be a children's animated film “Who are you, Mama Moo?” in the Leherheide district library. Admission is free for families with children up to 12 years old, and the event is supported by the Lions Club Bremerhaven. Highlights of the week
A festive evening awaits visitors at the festival of lights at the Haven Hospice Bremerhaven. The event opens at 4:30 p.m. with a musical performance by children from Kita Neidenburger Straße. Candles for the deceased, bratwurst and hot drinks are available here to share memories.
Later in the evening, at 8:30 p.m., Prof. Dr. Nils Meyer-Larsen in the Café de Fiets about “Science Goes Public”, where he will discuss future energy sources in shipping. Admission is free for everyone interested.
Another highlight is the queer film festival, which takes place in Bremerhaven from October 27th to 31st. Queerfilm.de emphasizes that the festival aims to promote diversity on screen and increase the visibility of everyday queer life. Those interested can look forward to several days of stories, projects and films about queer life from all over the world. On the first evening, the feature film “Dreams in Nightmares” will be shown, and on October 31st, a “long short film evening” will invite you to immerse yourself in creative film worlds.
Diverse offers on Friday and Saturday
Friday, October 31st brings not only an art afternoon in the Wilke studio with works by Jürgen Noltensmeier, but also a concert with chamber music in the Old Church Lehe at 6 p.m., where admission is also free. In the German Emigration Center, Dmitrij Chapterman and Yevgeniy Breyger will read from their works from 7:30 p.m., and here too it is worth registering in good time.
On Saturday, November 1st, there are several markets, including the craft market in the Fischbahnhof with over 40 exhibitors from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Visitors can also view the exhibition “The Hun Speech” in the Bremerhaven Historical Museum. A slightly different occasion is provided by a rally in front of the Great Church, which is directed against statements by CDU leader Friedrich Merz on migration.
In addition, the Lower Saxony State Theater will be represented in the city theater in the evening with the performance “To be or not to be” at 7:30 p.m. For music lovers, the rock band Flax will perform in the cabaret Die 10ne from 8 p.m.
Closing events on Sunday
On Sunday, November 2nd, there will be a blood donation campaign in the Klimahaus at noon from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., where donors receive free entry. The craft and Christmas markets will also continue to take place in the morning, while interested visitors can experience public weekend rides with model trains from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Finally, the premiere of “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea” starts in the city theater at 3 p.m. in the afternoon.
