The anticipation for the Bremen Freimarkt is growing! On October 17, 2025, this traditional folk festival, which is celebrating its 990th edition this year, will open at 4 p.m. with colorful fireworks. The highlight of the festival is the traditional free market parade, which starts on October 25th at 10 a.m. on Pappelstrasse in Neustadt. Over 4,250 participants will take to the streets of the Hanseatic city, including 21 new groups that will contribute to the 128-group parade. With a parade length of approximately 2,622 meters, this colorful procession will captivate spectators and it is estimated that around 200,000 people will watch the procession live. The exact route leads through Pappelstraße, via Langemarckstraße, Brill and the city center to Bürgerweide, a total of around 3.4 kilometers.

Special highlights and diversions

The safety and smooth running of the move have the highest priority. Therefore, two intersections in Neustadt will be closed during the move: Pappelstrasse/Friedrich-Ebert-Strasse and Pappelstrasse/Langemarckstrasse. For visitors who want to travel by public transport, there will be diversions for BSAG buses and trains. However, details about this are yet to be announced.
