Chaos in Hamburg: Half marathon and Harley Days cause traffic jams!
On Sunday, June 29, 2025, the streets of Hamburg will once again be dominated by two great events: the Hella Hamburg Half Marathon and the Harley Days. The city is expecting a colorful hustle and bustle with around 18,000 enthusiastic running participants as well as several thousand motorcycle fans who want to make the most of the inner-city biker meeting. NDR reports that the first streets will be closed from 4 a.m., especially in the Reeperbahn and Millerntorplatz areas.
The running route of the half marathon leads through some of the most beautiful corners of Hamburg: from the Reeperbahn through Altona, along the harbor and around the Alster, before the runners can reach their destination at the exhibition halls. Most traffic restrictions begin around 7 a.m., which is likely to significantly worsen the traffic situation in the city center. In fact, it is recommended to use the subway and S-Bahn as numerous bus routes will be affected during the event. In addition, drivers should avoid busy areas, especially around Dammtor train station and Ring 2, to avoid traffic jams Day24 informed.
Harley Days – A biker meeting in a class of its own
The Harley Days parade starts at the wholesale market at 2 p.m. sharp, led by rock legend Peter Maffay. The parade leads over the Veddel, the Köhlbrand Bridge, through the harbor and the Hafencity.
