FC St. Pauli introduces goalkeeper trio: Vasilj, Voll and Spari in action!
FC St. Pauli is providing a breath of fresh air in the goalkeeper position. How Picture reports, the club has reorganized its goalkeeping trio. 29-year-old Nikola Vasilj is now at the forefront, while his 24-year-old representative Ben Voll is standing by. New to the team is Simon Spari, a 23-year-old goalkeeper who was signed by Austria Klagenfurt and has made 29 appearances there.
In a first test match against Firrel, the new goalkeeper trio was able to shine immediately. FC St. Pauli won the match 10-0, with Simon Spari in goal the entire game. Ben Voll was on the bench and Nikola Vasilj was not in the squad. Coach Alexander Blessin's training plans stipulate that every goalkeeper should play complete games in order to optimally prepare for the current season.
The goalkeepers' deployment plans
As further reported, Ben Voll will be between the posts for the entire game time in the friendly against Drochtersen next Saturday. Nikola Vasilj plans Blessin to celebrate his return in the third friendly against Silkeborg on July 15th. Vasilj was on duty with the national team after the end of the season and had major preparation problems due to a similar international trip in the summer of 2024.
In terms of performance, Ben Voll already showed last season that he is a reliable replacement for Vasilj. His appearance on matchday 33 against Frankfurt is particularly worth mentioning, where he not only shone as a keeper but also contributed an assist. Playing time is important for all goalkeepers, and coach Blessin is therefore planning to use the new signing Spari in the second team in the regional league.
Simon Spari – A new beginning in Hamburg
Simon Spari himself is full of enthusiasm for his new role in Hamburg. In an interview he spoke positively about the move to FC St. Pauli. He feels ready to gain a foothold in the Bundesliga and sees the club as an excellent opportunity for further development. Coach Blessin highlights Spari's reflexes and skills in direct duels. His clean passing game and his positive charisma are also well received by the coach.
An exciting season is shaping up at FC St. Pauli, especially in the goalkeeping position, which should provide a lot of talk. The fans can be curious to see how new signing Simon Spari will perform in the coming period and whether Vasilj and Voll can consolidate their status as key players.
