FC St. Pauli: Renovation of the training ground – visits stopped for the time being!

There is great anticipation for FC St. Pauli's upcoming games, but the club is currently undergoing construction work. A second grass field on Kollaustrasse will be converted into a modern hybrid lawn. This will happen during the professional training camp in Austria, as reported on the official FC St. Pauli website.

However, the renovation work, which will take several weeks, also brings with it some restrictions. For security reasons, attending the training is not possible for the time being. If you want to watch the professionals training, you will have to be patient as regular access is not available during this time. Information about the reopening of training visits will be announced in good time on the club's homepage.

Future-oriented investments

A first step in the right direction was taken in August 2024 when the training center was expanded to include a hybrid turf pitch. The Heiler team took over the work on behalf of the association and ensured that the old turf base layer was professionally removed. The new training ground, which now covers an area of 8,700 m², will be equipped with a state-of-the-art drainage system and irrigated by 12 part-circle and six full-circle pop-up sprinklers, as can be found on the Heiler Sport website (Heiler Sport).

Particularly noteworthy is the hybrid turf system used here. It combines the best properties of natural turf and artificial turf. The sown strands of natural grass form the basis, reinforced by synthetic fibers that are 20 centimeters long and incorporated with 2,500 stitches per square meter. This innovative technology is intended to maximize both the quality of play and the longevity of the turf.

A look into the future

The renovation work is part of a comprehensive plan to improve the club's infrastructure. The investments in modern technologies and sustainable solutions show that FC St. Pauli is ready to take a step into the future. Fans can be curious to see how the new circumstances will affect training and games.

Until the construction work is completed and training is possible again, it is important to be patient and keep an eye on the progress. So FC St. Pauli stays on the ball – even off the pitch!
