After retiring from his career as a professional goalkeeper, Sascha Burchert is taking on an exciting new challenge. The 35-year-old native of Berlin will be the goalkeeping coordinator at FC St. Pauli. In this newly created position, he will take on a crucial role in the realignment of the training of young goalkeepers NDR reported. Burchert explained that he was looking forward to his future tasks and was positive about his professional future at FC St. Pauli. He was greatly impressed by the people there and wanted to pass on his knowledge.
The former keeper, who moved from SpVgg Greuther Fürth to FC St. Pauli in 2022, played four DFB Cup games during his playing days and appeared three times for the second team in the regional league. However, he did not play last season due to an injury. Andreas Bornemann, the sports director of FC St. Pauli, praised Burchert's experience and emphasized his communicative and analytical skills. “Sascha has a good knack when it comes to promoting talent,” says Bornemann.
A comprehensive training concept
Burchert will now develop a comprehensive training concept for the club's goalkeepers.
