St. Pauli in a spirit of optimism: new arrivals and exciting transfers!

FC St. Pauli is facing an exciting summer transfer period in which the squad is undergoing significant changes. As the MOPO reported, the transfer window opens on July 1st and will remain open until September 1st. Seven new players have already been signed so far, and more transfers are to follow.

The start of training is scheduled for July 3rd at Kollaustrasse, where the team will complete fitness tests and medical checks right from the start. The first test match against Grün-Weiß Firrel is scheduled for July 6th. The club has high ambitions for the new season, which will start with a home game against Borussia Dortmund on August 23rd and 24th.

New arrivals and departures

Some fresh faces join the old friends in the offensive line. The new additions include:

  • Joel Chima Fujita (Mittelfeld, VV Sint-Truiden)
  • Ricky-Jade Jones (Stürmer, Peterborough United)
  • Mathias Pereira Lage (Offensiv-Allrounder, Stade Brest)
  • Arkadiusz Pyrka (Außenverteidiger, Piast Gliwice)
  • Jannik Robatsch (Innenverteidiger, Austria Klagenfurt)
  • Simon Spari (Torwart, Austria Klagenfurt)

While new players are brought on board, some departures also had to be dealt with. Among other things, Elias Saad moved to FC Augsburg, and the future of Carlo Boukhalfa and Johannes Eggestein remains uncertain. Noah Weißhaupt's return to SC Freiburg and the end of Simon Zoller's career are particularly painful.

Transfer rumors and injuries

In addition to the rotation that has already taken place, there are further transfers in the pipeline. Philipp Treu is close to a move to SC Freiburg and Fin Stevens has been linked with Hull City or Preston North End. Daisuke Yokota (offensive player, KAA Gent) could also soon join the club, with a transfer fee of between 2 and 2.5 million euros.

The situation in the squad is complicated by injuries. Jackson Irvine and Karol Mets are undergoing rehabilitation, meaning their return to team training remains uncertain. Additionally, James Sands is training after ankle surgery and his return remains to be seen.

Another aspect is the return of Maurides Roque Jr. after his loan to Debreceni VSC, although here too the future at FC St. Pauli is still unclear. Oladapo Afolayan, on the other hand, has to prove his worth again after critical comments about the team and playing times, while Thomas Risch will be responsible for game analysis as the new assistant coach.

The preparation for the season promises to be exciting. It remains to be seen how the new team will manifest itself and whether the transfers will have the desired effect. For all fans of the district club, the motto is: keep your eyes open and keep your fingers crossed!
