In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the 2025 Geriatric Care Prize will be awarded on June 24, 2025, an initiative that recognizes outstanding achievements in nursing. Minister of Social Affairs Stefanie Drese calls on all outpatient care services, day-care and inpatient facilities as well as educational institutions to submit their innovative projects. The aim of the competition is to shed light on the social significance and the various facets of care the government of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania reported.
Prize money totaling 5,000 euros is available for the award-winning projects. The application deadline ends on June 30, 2025, so interested groups and institutions should not hesitate for long. All geriatric care facilities and services that represent the best examples of innovative approaches to care are eligible to participate. Individuals are excluded from applying. Projects can relate to various subject areas, including:

- Fortschritte in der Digitalisierung der Pflege
- Schulungen und Beratungen für Angehörige
- Strategien zur Personalgewinnung
- Integration ehrenamtlicher Kräfte
- Maßnahmen zur betrieblichen Gesundheitsförderung
- Präventive Ansätze in der Altenpflege
It is important that all proposals can be submitted by the application deadline, be it by email or by post. The evaluation is carried out by a jury made up of representatives from the Ministry of Social Affairs and the State Nursing Committee.
