Anklam celebrates the largest Hanseatic festival with Vanessa Mai and fireworks!
A highlight in Anklam is coming! From August 15th to 17th, 2025, the Peeneufer will be transformed into a lively promenade, and the big Hanseatic festival will attract visitors with a colorful program. With an expected number of visitors of 20,000 to 25,000 eager to celebrate, the festival promises a truly big party. The largest folk festival on the Peene is being organized by the city's cultural department for the 20th time, and there is a lot to experience again this year.
The event begins on Friday at 4 p.m. with three shots from the firecracker cannon. Star guest Vanessa Mai will take the stage that same evening at 7:30 p.m. – a little earlier than originally planned! The boat parade on the Peene begins at 8.30 p.m., followed by an impressive fireworks display at 11 p.m., which is set off on the dike side of the north side of the Peene. Special anniversary shirts are also available at the city information stand.
A varied festival program for everyone
The program starts at 11 a.m. on Saturday. Pure entertainment awaits visitors with cultural groups from twin cities, such as the folklore troupe from Ustka (Poland) and the youth rock band “Black Roses” from Burlöv (Sweden). The main stage will return to the sandy area at the bulwark and will provide a proper musical fireworks display. A colorful family area with a straw bale pool, a children's construction site and bouncy castles invites the little ones to use up their energy reserves.
Particularly pleasing: The water rescue swimming competition will take place on Saturday at 10 a.m., while the cutter rowing will begin at 1 p.m. with exciting commentary from the Anklam Seesportclub on the north stage. On Sunday, visitors can look forward to the traditional lost property auction at 12.30 p.m. and the ecumenical service at 11 a.m. For the little festival visitors, the rubber duck race at 4 p.m. will be the highlight of Sunday.
A feast for all senses
At the Hanseatic Market there are stalls from local traders, countless food stalls and relaxed lounge areas. Culinary offers are expressly desired here! This also includes the Schwedenmühle, which creates a relaxed atmosphere with coffee, cake and music. DJs and live bands provide musical entertainment on three stages. On Friday evening, DJ Bobby will be DJing and heating up the crowd.
The entry prices are also family-friendly: entry costs 6 euros on Friday and Saturday, 5 euros on Sunday and the weekend ticket is available for 12 euros. Children up to 12 years have free entry. Since a high number of visitors is expected during the festival, it is recommended to arrive on foot or by bike, as there are no separate parking spaces available. There are also regular train connections from Greifswald and the surrounding area.
The Hanseatic Festival in Anklam is not only an event for the people of the city, but also an excellent opportunity to promote the region's cultural and culinary heritage. Don't miss this festival and celebrate with us on the banks of the Peene!
