An alarming incident occurred on Friday, November 28, 2025, at the train station in Anklam. At around 11:45 a.m. the police received several emergency calls reporting an aggressive man who was threatening passersby with an axe. The local police forces from the Anklam police station reacted quickly and were able to quickly bring the situation under control. How Baltic Sea newspaper reported that the accused was a 41-year-old man who, as it turned out, was already known to the police. He wore dark clothing and carried the dangerous ax with him. With the threat of firearms and the use of pepper spray, police managed to secure the ax and bring the man to the ground before he could be taken into custody.

An alcohol test showed that the man was heavily intoxicated at 1.97 per mille at the time of the incident. After receiving medical treatment at Anklam Hospital, he was admitted to a closed facility under police escort. The criminal police have started investigations into threats and violations of the weapons law, according to the official announcement Press portal shows.
