In the coming days, the citizens of Western Pomerania will be the focus of an exciting survey that analyzes the current standard of living in their region. Nordkurier's Heimatcheck survey aims to collect residents' opinions on the quality of life in Western Pomerania and runs until Sunday, June 22nd. The survey is online and anonymous, covers 15 topic areas and contains a total of 30 questions. It only takes about five minutes to complete this all-important survey. At the end, participants have the opportunity to leave personal suggestions in a free text field.

The competition that is linked to the survey is particularly interesting: 25 cash prizes of 200 euros each will be raffled off among the participants. Participation in this competition takes place via a separate form after the survey, which significantly increases the incentive to take part. Uckermarkkurier sums up the purpose of the survey: Readers should actively participate in improving their living conditions.

Reviews and challenges

At the same time, a similar survey is being carried out in the Rostock district to evaluate the quality of life locally. So far, over 1,160 people have taken part, including 26 from the city of Schwaan. The quality of life there is rated at 6.27 out of 10 points, which shows that there is still room for improvement. Those surveyed were particularly dissatisfied with the dining options, which only scored 4.48 points. There is also a need for improvements in points such as housing availability, rental prices and traffic situation, which are on average around 4.5 points.

On the positive side, Schwaan was praised for its sports clubs, child care, family friendliness, cleanliness and retail offering. These results make it clear that there are good approaches in many areas of the region, even if there are still challenges to be overcome. The Nordkurier reports on the different assessments and calls on even more citizens to comment on their living situation.

Quality of life in the focus of politics

The efforts to define quality of life in Germany are not only anchored locally, but also at a national level. The federal government has developed the strategy “Living well in Germany – what is important to us” in order to establish quality of life as a benchmark for political decisions. This comprehensive initiative shows that quality of life encompasses not only living conditions, but also feelings of security and community.

According to a report on Gut leben in Deutschland, a system of twelve dimensions and 46 indicators was created to make quality of life tangible and measurable. This system is continuously updated and not only offers insights into current living conditions, but also the opportunity to transparently track progress or regression in various areas.

In summary, it shows that the surveys in Western Pomerania and Rostock are not just a snapshot, but also provide an incentive to actively participate in shaping a better quality of life. Citizens' exchange and openness to suggestions for improvement could be crucial to ensuring that the region remains livable in the future. Therefore: Get involved and take part in the survey!
