Things got hot in Neetzow last weekend when the fire departments of the Vorpommern-Greifswald district competed against each other in the district competition. The excitement was palpable as teams from different locations competed to demonstrate their firefighting skills. The men's team from Medow secured the district championship title with an impressive time of 25.29 seconds. The women's team from Murchin also prevailed with a time of 28.39 seconds and also became women's district champions. Nordkurier reports that a total of eight women's teams took part in the competition and that the conditions in Neetzow-Liepen ensured that things ran smoothly, which was particularly emphasized by Mayor Matthias Falk. Falk also announced that the community would like to host the district finals in 2026.
But how did the other teams perform? Neetzow-Liepen followed the Medowers in second place with a time of 25.67 seconds. Klein Bünzow secured third place with 26.95 seconds. In the women's race, the teams from Postlow and Medow finished the competition in second and third place with times of 32.67 seconds and 34.96 seconds, respectively. The results testify to the strong competition that was evident in the competitions. The best men's team from Liepgarten reached ninth place with 31.96 seconds. Association boss Stefan Fellechner not only thanked the participating teams, but also praised the fair competitions. He mentioned that the regulations of the competition will be revised in the coming season to avoid discussions. Video evidence similar to that in football was also discussed, but this was excluded, so that the adjudicators remain the deciding authority. The German Fire Brigade Association will deal with the adjustments to the competition regulations in the future.
