Sports badge day in Anklam: bronze, silver and gold for everyone!
On July 16, 2025, the sports badge day of the district of Vorpommern-Greifswald took place in the Werner Seelen Stadium. This event attracted numerous schools, clubs, companies and interested citizens who had the opportunity to acquire the German sports badge until 6 p.m. The day was all about sporting and health promotion, with special attention to inclusion - everyone, regardless of impairments, was able to take part. The award is awarded bronze, silver and gold in the steps and is based on the basic motor skills: endurance, strength, speed and coordination.
The lively participation of around 2,800 children from the region who wanted to prove themselves in various disciplines was particularly gratifying. The German sports badge, which is considered the highest award outside of competition sports, is awarded by the German Olympic Sportbund . Children from the age of six and adults aged 18 and over can earn this award. The prerequisite is that at least one exercise from each of the four discipling groups is successfully completed. Evidence of swimming skills is also necessary.
a role model for all
A very special example of commitment and perseverance is the 88-year-old Wolfram Kunze from Braunschweig, who has already collected 70 sports badges and is now looking for his 71st award. Such stories show that it is never too late to become active and set sporting goals.
The motivation for participation was clearly noticeable on the sports badge day, and the Kreissportbund for the badges and documents. There are also other sports badge days in the region, including in Neuenkirchen and Jarmen in the coming week, as well as in Strasburg and Greifswald in September.
inclusion in sport
The topic of inclusion played a central role in this event. The German Olympic Sportbund has set itself the goal of anchoring inclusion in sport. A specialist forum in Berlin discussed how inclusion in and through sport can be successfully implemented. Numerous projects were presented that show how different sports can be designed inclusive, including special offers for people with disabilities.
The sports badge day in Anklam has once again proven that sport connects and is also an important building block for health and community in our region. It remains to be hoped that many other people take the opportunity to become active and maybe even acquire the German sports badge.
