Toni Kroos signs Krooswald sign: Auction for a good cause!
Things are currently very busy in the Hanseatic city of Greifswald because Toni Kroos, the former Real Madrid star, has caused quite a stir. The highlight was undoubtedly the award ceremony Order of Merit of the State of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania to Kroos, who accepted his recognition in the Greifswalder Volksstadion with a lot of charm and a smile on his face. But it wasn't just the honors that caused enthusiasm on this day, but also the signed town entrance sign with the inscription “Krooswald”.
This special sign will be auctioned on July 25, 2025 in the Greifswald art workshops. The proceeds from the auction will benefit the children's and youth art school, which urgently needs financial support. The art workshops, which are celebrating their 25th anniversary with a big summer festival on this day, have all the more reason to celebrate.
Special table football match
But that wasn't all that Kroos achieved. At the ceremony he also played a game of table football with Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig, Mayor Stefan Fassbinder and a young soccer player. The unique piece on which this game took place also has Kroos' signature and will also be auctioned. The foosball table was made in honor of Kroos and not only bears his number 8, but also the colors and symbols of Greifswald. The dimensions of the table football are impressive: 148 cm long, 93 cm high and 73 cm deep - a real heavyweight at 70 kg!
The auction of the kicker begins on July 25, 2025 Zoll-auktion.de, with the proceeds going to children and youth sports in Greifswald. In particular, this is intended to finance training sessions and sports clothing for low-income families. Interested sports clubs can apply for funding from the Greifswalder Sports Association from mid-October. The table football itself was made in a workshop that employs people with disabilities, thus bringing a social aspect to the auction.
Krooswald: A name that connects
Greifswald has renamed itself “Krooswald” in honor of the star footballer, and the fans seem to be in a celebratory mood, as all the town entrance signs with this inscription have already found new owners. This shows how much the name Toni Kroos is respected in his hometown. There was also a small sporting argument when the Order of Merit was awarded - Kroos and the young player Maja defeated Schwesig and Fassbinder 2-0. Further proof that Kroos is a big figure not only on the pitch but also off it.
The coming days promise an exciting auction and a successful summer festival. So if you are interested in the signed sign or the unique table football table, mark July 25th in your calendar and maybe get a good deal yourself!
