Yesterday, a violent fire raged in a warehouse belonging to the waste disposal company Umweltdienste Barth in the Vorpommern-Rügen district. As ndr.de reports, the alerted fire department was supported by five stations: Barth, Pruchten, Zingst, Küstrow and Fuhlendorf. A total of 53 emergency services were on site and fought the flames, which were finally brought under control around midnight.
In the warehouse where waste paper was stored, there was an estimated material damage of around 250,000 euros. The exact cause of the fire is still unclear and the criminal police have already started investigations at the scene of the fire. A fire investigator will be called in on Friday to get to the bottom of the mystery.
