Creative writing workshop: Children discover the world of words in Güstrow!

In Güstrow, the young talents put their creative minds into motion! With a lot of enthusiasm and joy, 18 children from Rostock, Schwaan and Güstrow took part in the “Creative Writing Workshop”, which was now celebrated with a festive final event in the Diversity Garden. A special highlight was the meeting with the project managers and members of the youth forum of the Rostock district, who praised the commitment of the families and carers.

As nordkurier.de reports, the participants were able to discover the beauties of nature in addition to exciting workshops. During the Easter holidays, a trip to the Oceaneum in Stralsund took the children into the fascinating world of the sea. Here they could not only marvel at real fish, but also capture their thoughts on postcards, which they then creatively designed. Zahide, an enthusiastic participant, expressed her enthusiasm while Yadigar raised important questions about marine conservation and environmental protection.

Creativity and community

In addition, the children immersed themselves in the city's history of Güstrow and studied the impressive career of the sculptor Ernst Barlach in the Barlach studio house. Such experiences not only promote creative writing, but also cohesion and collaborative learning among the little ones. The cards and photos presented are now not only memorabilia, but also a testimony to their creative journey.

But the art of writing is not only promoted in Güstrow! There are also numerous offers for aspiring writers on the picturesque coast of Rügen. A writing workshop in Alt-Saßnitz invites you to a creative exchange between March 24th and 29th, 2025. Participants can put their memories, projects and dreams into words under the guidance of experienced caregivers. No prior knowledge is required, which makes writing easier. The inspiring environment of the healthy Baltic Sea certainly helps ideas to flow.

Further workshops on various topics are already planned. An autumn writing week will be offered in October 2025 that will focus on biographical sketches and poetry. Anyone who registers by June 30, 2025 has the chance to get a place. Especially these days, when the November blues are rolling in, the opportunity to write creatively and recharge your batteries is tempting.

Learn to write child-friendly

The potential of children in creative writing should not be underestimated. An example that kulturbildung.de describes provides insights into a writing workshop where children are motivated to put their thoughts on paper through various exercises. Here, too, it becomes clear that it can sometimes be challenging to get the little ones to write. Children like Leon, who was initially shy, eventually found expression and even a word that brought them great pride — a milestone in their development. Such moments show how important support from caregivers is in creating a creative environment.

The creative writing workshops, both in Güstrow and on Rügen, not only offer children the opportunity to develop their literary skills, but also promote social interaction and a sense of responsibility for our environment. With all the adventures and discoveries, the cards and photos are memories of an exciting time that the children will stay with for their entire lives.
