Prime Minister Schwesig took the opportunity to talk about the necessary steps against economic stagnation. She particularly emphasized the importance of an investment booster to meet the challenges of the current time. This reflects the concerns that were also addressed by the citizens in dialogue: questions about a lack of doctors, public transport, integration problems, affordable living space and offers for seniors were very popular.

Citizens' dialogue as an integral part of
The state government of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is increasingly relating to citizen dialogues. From March 24 to 26, 2025, she organized forums in various cities in which ministers and state secretaries answer the citizens. The topics of the past dialogues - from increased energy prices to medical care to questions about refugee policy - show the broad spectrum of the challenges that society is currently moving. Prime Minister Schwesig always emphasizes the importance of exchange with the citizens, especially in times when surveys prove a decline in the back of their red-red government.
- The citizens' forums take place in each of the six counties and both independent cities.
- For the district of Mecklenburg Seenplatte, two events are planned in Stavenhagen and Friedland.
- In Stavenhagen, Minister of Education Simone Oldenburg is represented by State Secretary Tom divorce.
- Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig will personally be present in Friedland.
- In the other cities, specialist minister will discuss current topics such as water protection and art promotion.
Citizen participation, however, is not a patent recipe. As an analysis of civil society shows, it requires specific basic requirements. A suitable mix of method that deals with the respective situation is crucial to effectively involve citizens in complex questions. Transparency, early and open -ended participation procedures are essential to gain the trust of the citizens and to take social troubles into account.
The next opportunity for the citizens to get to know the institutions better is already at the door: the 15th MV day in Greifswald takes place from Friday to Sunday and invites you to actively participate in the design of society.
Overall, this day shows how important the exchange between politics and the population is and that dialogue and commitment form the basis for a lively democracy.
