Another highlight of reading promotion
The reading competition in Ludwigslust is part of a larger initiative that aims to strengthen the children's reading pleasure. These practices take place all over Germany. The nationwide reading competition, which has been organized by the Börsenverein des Deutschen Buchhandels since 1959, also offers an excellent platform for pupils in the sixth classes to demonstrate their skills. Around 600,000 school children from over 7,000 schools take part annually. The focus is on promoting reading as a valuable asset and convey important social and linguistic skills to children. When evaluating, not only the reading fluid counts, but also the clarity of the pronunciation and the expressiveness of the lectures.
The reading competition in Ludwigslust has once again shown how important reading is for children and what joy it can give stories together. The commitment of schools, libraries and local clubs is the key to successful reading promotion and conjures up a bright smile to the young readers.
