Arson in Neubrandenburg? Investigations after fire in transporter!

A nighttime fire brigade operation caused a stir in Neubrandenburg. On July 1, 2025, shortly before midnight, the fire department was called to a fire in a Mercedes Sprinter on Margeritenstrasse. At 11 p.m., the rescue control center of the Mecklenburg Lake District received the alarm, which ultimately led to the intervention of eight firefighters from the professional fire department. Tragically, there was an estimated property damage of around 10,000 euros, but fortunately there were no injuries. The burned-out vehicle was recovered by a towing service.

The investigation into the cause of the fire was immediately started by the fire investigators and the Neubrandenburg criminal police. There is suspicion of arson, which has prompted the police to ask for relevant information from the public. There was also another fire incident in the eastern part of the city on Monday evening. Residents on Einsteinstrasse discovered a burning pile of bulky waste in front of a residential building around 8 p.m. When the fire brigade arrived, it was confirmed that there was a lot of smoke and fire, which made it necessary to extinguish the fire immediately. A car parked nearby was also affected by the heat, resulting in property damage of around 2,000 euros. In this case too, the criminal police have started investigating the cause of the fire and are not ruling out the possibility of deliberate arson.
