Neubrandenburg's summer highlights: culture, music and community festivals!
Summer time in Neubrandenburg means that the city is blossoming again and has lots of highlights in store. As June progresses, the weather becomes more pleasant and neighbors come together to make the most of the warm days. A particularly exciting event is just around the corner: the “Women in Architecture” architecture festival, which will take place on June 19th in the House of Culture and Education (HKB). From 1:30 p.m., those interested can experience guided tours, lectures and film screenings, and the best part? Entry is free!
But that's not all! On June 20th from 6 p.m., the Neubrandenburg Community Foundation invites you to a citizens' picnic on Brodaer Strand. This cozy get-together with live music and delicious food promises to be a highlight of the month. Visitors can look forward to spending an evening in the open air - without any entry fees. So it's no wonder that the Citizens' Picnic has been convincing since 2014, as demonstrated by the ninth event last year, which featured a musical performance by the Westfälisches Landestheater, where people brought their own chairs and food and celebrated together.
A variety of events attract people to the city center
June 21st will be a real holiday for all shopping fans: over 150 shops in the city center will open their doors from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The supporting program includes children's entertainment, soap bubble art and the popular “Kinderkram” flea market as well as a book flea market at the regional library. And for everyone who would like to experience something different, the “Open Society Day” will also take place on this day in Café International.
Music lovers will also get their money's worth on June 21st - with the premiere of the Fête de la Musique from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Various musical performances are intended to enliven the cityscape on five stages, and here too: Admission is free! If you like sports, you can visit the 32nd international sitting ball tournament on June 22nd in the Südstadt sports hall, which will take place from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Art and culture in focus
On June 22nd, the Neubrandenburg Art Collection presents the photo exhibition “The Great Schwof,” which brings together the works of 31 East German photographers. And as if that wasn't enough, the film “The Cyberbully” will be shown at the university at 2 p.m. - entry is free here too. If you would like to experience a special highlight this weekend, you should visit the Neubrandenburg Open Airs in the Kulturpark from June 27th to 29th, where artists such as LEA, Stahlzeit and Johannes Oerding will delight the audience.
In addition, the population can look forward to “Bundeswehr Day” on June 28th on the grounds of the Fünfeichen barracks. There is technology you can touch and lots of information on offer here. Another sporting highlight is the Tollensesee swimming, which will also take place on June 28th at 10 a.m. On this day, art lovers can also experience an artist talk with photographer Olaf Martens in the art collection at 3 p.m.
And for the night owls among the visitors, there is the monastery night in the Franciscan monastery on the same evening, where various programs with live music, children's activities and culinary delicacies are on the agenda from 6 p.m. until late at night.
So an exciting time is just around the corner! With a colorful mix of culture, music and community activities in Neubrandenburg, this summer is sure to be unforgettable.
