New fire engine for Jabel: 155,000 euros in funding secured!
The Jabel Volunteer Fire Department can look forward to an important grant notice: On August 15, 2025, State Secretary Wolfgang Schmülling from the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Ministry of the Interior, Construction and Digitalization handed over an amount of 155,000 euros to Mayor Johannes Güssmer. This money is planned for the purchase of a new fire engine, an LF 10. The total cost of the vehicle amounts to an impressive 490,000 euros, with the district contributing around 150,000 euros. The remainder is raised by the community, which has been trying to purchase a new vehicle for eight years now.
“The new vehicle is an important signal for economic development,” emphasized Mayor Güssmer. However, he pointed out that the new fire engine would have to be parked outdoors for the time being, as the equipment house is simply too small for such operations. To remedy this, the community plans to apply for funding to expand the tool shed. An application should be submitted promptly, despite the already large application list. SPD member of the state parliament Nadine Julitz also emphasized the importance of a well-equipped fire department for the entire community.
Expected delivery in autumn 2026
The new fire engine will be purchased as part of the state central procurement for 2026. Delivery is expected in autumn of next year. The fact that the Jabel fire department needs a modern vehicle became clear during a recent operation in Damerow, when the fire department was active in the fight against a burning pizza oven and received active support from other volunteer fire departments.
This step represents great progress for firefighters, as well-trained and suitable vehicles are the backbone of safety in many communities.
