The 4th summer run in Waren an der Müritz was a complete success and brought with it two records. On June 23, 2025, 383 enthusiastic runners started who wanted to compete on various distances. With this record participation, the event set a new benchmark in the history of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Running Cup Northern Courier reported.
This year the 15 kilometer route was particularly exciting. Olga Plotnykova from TC Fiko Rostock was the first woman to beat the magical limit of 60 minutes - she finished in 58:56 minutes. Manuela Drögsler (TSG Wittenburg, W40) landed on the other podium places with 1:04:41 hours and Brigitta Bojahr (LAV Waren/Müritz, W45) in 1:08:20 hours. Among the men, Finley Wegner from SV Turbine Neubrandenburg (U18) won with an excellent time of 53:29 minutes, followed by Tim Klatt (LAV Waren/Müritz, M35) in 53:59 and Stefan Witthuhn (SV Turbine, M35) in 54:21 minutes.
A variety of distances and a large number of participants
In addition to the 15-kilometer main race, routes of 10 and 5 kilometers were also offered. Here Damaris Gericke (W45, Potsdam) shone in the women's ranking of the 10-kilometer distance with 42:21 minutes, while Silvio Sempert (SV Waren, M50) was the fastest man with 39:28 minutes. In the 5 kilometers, Katrin Sonnenberg (Neustrelitz, W40) took first place in 22:07 minutes, while Philipp-Valentin Schön (Bad Doberaner SV, U16) led the men's ranking with 19:56 minutes. Organizer and running group boss Jens Boldt expressed optimism about the high number of participants and the successful organization of the event, which was carried out in cooperation with the SV Waren 09 running team and as part of the INTERSPORT junior running cup.
The conditions were certainly challenging, with temperatures approaching 30 degrees and it was a heat battle for all participants. Nevertheless, the running community showed resilience and achieved impressive performances. The good work of the Laage sports club, which was able to record a total of 21 age group victories, is particularly commendable mv sports added.

The next competition as part of the running cup will take place on July 5th in Diekhof: the 1st Göllnitz-Schmooksberglauf, organized by SC Laage over 10.5 kilometers. The fact that the overall ranking is led by Fanny Möck (Müritzer LSV) and Tim Klatt (LAV Waren/Müritz) after nine of 15 competitions is evidence of the excitement that still lies ahead.
The atmosphere at the summer run was not only characterized by sporting competition, but also by community and enthusiasm for the sport of running. While the athletes received their medals and certificates, you could see the satisfaction on the faces of the organizers and spectators, who made this event an unforgettable experience.
