Waren/Müritz, Deutschland - The 4. Summer run in Waren an der Müritz was a complete success and brought two records with it. On June 23, 2025, 383 enthusiastic runners started who wanted to measure themselves at various distances. With this record participation, the event set a new yardstick in the history of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania running cup, as nordkurier reported.

This year the route over 15 kilometers was particularly exciting. Olga Plotnykova from TC Fiko Rostock was the first woman to undercut the magical limit of 60 minutes - she finished in 58:56 minutes. Manuela Drögsler (TSG Wittenburg, W40) landed in the other podium places with 1:04:41 hours and Brigitta Bojahr (LAV Waren/Müritz, W45) in 1:08:20 hours. Finley Wegner from SV Turbine Neubrandenburg (U18) won among the men with an excellent time of 53:29 minutes, followed by Tim Klatt (LAV Waren/Müritz, M35) in 53:59 and Stefan Witthuhn (SV Turbine, M35) in 54:21 minutes.

In addition to the 15-kilometer main race, routes over 10 and 5 kilometers were also offered. Here Damaris Gericke (W45, Potsdam) shone with 42:21 minutes in the women's ranking of the 10-kilometer distance, while Silvio Sempert (SV Waren, M50) provided the fastest man with 39:28 minutes. In the 5 kilometers of Katrin Sonnenberg (Neustrelitz, W40), first place in 22:07 minutes, while Philipp-Valentin Schön (Bad Doberaner SV, U16) led the men's ranking with 19:56 minutes. Organizer and running group boss Jens Boldt expressed optimistic about the high number of participants and the successful organization of the event, which was carried out in cooperation with the SV Waren run team and as part of the Intersport young run cup.

The conditions were certainly challenging, because at temperatures of almost 30 degrees it was a heat battle for all participants. Nevertheless, the resilient running community showed up, and there was impressive achievements. The good work of the Laage sports club, which was able to record a total of 21 age group victories, is particularly commendable, such as mv-sports added.

The next competition as part of the running cup will take place on July 5th in Diekhof: the 1st Göllnitz Schmooksberglauf, organized by SC Laage over 10.5 kilometers. The fact that the overall ranking is listed after nine out of 15 competitions by Fanny Möck (Müritzer LSV) and Tim Klatt (LAV Waren/Müritz) testifies to the tension that is still imminent.

The atmosphere in the summer run was not only shaped by the sporting competition, but also by community and enthusiasm for running. While the athletes received their medals and documents, the satisfaction on the face of the organizers and the spectators who made this event an unforgettable experience could be read.
