Numerous participants cheer at the Canower New Year's Eve Run 2025!

On December 31st, the 2nd Canower New Year's Eve Run took place in the picturesque Mecklenburg Lake District. Despite cold temperatures, 94 athletes followed the organizers' call to complete the approximately 7 kilometer long route around Lake Trünnen. Nearly 100 participants gathered, setting a new record for the event. The starting signal was given at 11:11 a.m. for the event, which shone with great commitment and fun in the movement strelitzius.com reported.

Who achieved the best times? Frank Dochow triumphed among the men with an impressive time of 31:52 minutes. Chantal Krüger set an example for the women with 33:27 minutes. In addition to the running and walking participants, there were also numerous hikers on site, which underlines the broad appeal of the event. By registering in advance or directly on site, all participants received a certificate and the best three runners were able to look forward to a medal.

A good deal for a good cause

The joy of the high number of participants was topped by the donations collected. A total of 591 euros were collected for the Luisendomizil hospice in Neustrelitz. The Priepert care center rounded this amount up to a proud sum of 1,000 euros. Bernd Kutz, one of the organizers, warmly thanked everyone who contributed to the success of the event - from the participants to the helpers and sponsors.

Particularly noteworthy was the participation of Steffen Franz, the mayor of the Wustrow community, who was actively involved in the events. Such events not only promote health, but also strengthen the sense of community in the region.

Outlook on upcoming events

The anticipation for the next events is already noticeable. The Easter run and the New Year's Eve run next year are already in the event calendar, as shown on the website Mecklenburg Lake District can be read. Given the number of participants and the positive feedback, it is expected that these events will also be very popular.
