Art for everyone: Telephone tours of the Rostock Art Gallery start!

The Rostock Art Gallery has come up with an exciting initiative that could be a real ray of hope for many: From July 7, 2025, telephone tours will be offered as part of “On Call Culture”. The aim is to make access to culture easier for people who often find themselves in front of closed doors due to disabilities, place of residence or mobility. This noteworthy measure also benefits people who feel uncomfortable in groups or cannot afford to visit. If you are interested, you can contact us at www.beirufkultur.de Register – the whole thing is free!

The first telephone tour will take place on July 7, 2025 at 4 p.m. and is titled “Usedomer Lights – The Artists’ Island on the Baltic Sea”. An art education staff member will guide participants through the exhibition as they take part in the event from the comfort of their own home. It will be informative and entertaining for an hour, and although the speaking function is disabled during the tour, questions and exchanges can flow in spontaneously.

A wide range of offerings in the art gallery

The Kunsthalle Rostock, a contemporary and modern museum, has even more up its sleeve. The collection exhibition “Usedomer Lights” will take place there from March 30th to November 16th, 2025, showing the works of talented Usedom artists. In addition, there will be the exhibition “Round & Square – Sometimes Dirty” from May 10th to September 7th, 2025, which will mark 60 years of F.C. Hansa Rostock is presented. Younger talents are not left out either: the works of young creatives can be admired at the “Students Exhibit” event from June 20 to July 20, 2025.

For music lovers there will be a jazz concert with Emma Rawicz on June 20th as part of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Festival. The opening hours of the art gallery are Tuesday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and it is closed on Mondays. Those responsible at the Kunsthalle are also pleased about the announcement for the Rostock Art Prize 2025, which is awarded by the Kulturstiftung Rostock e.V., the Hanseatic and university city of Rostock and the Kunsthalle itself. This price is supported by the PROVINZIAL NORD insurance company.

A step towards inclusion

With the new telephone tours, the Kunsthalle is making a valuable contribution to inclusion in society. Art is there for everyone, and the opportunity to offer consultation hours shows that everyone should have the chance to discover cultural treasures, regardless of personal hurdles. An initiative that should definitely be supported and which will probably be heard by many shows, how important it is to break down barriers and make cultural experiences accessible to a wider audience.

To find out more about these and other events, it is always worth taking a look at the Kunsthalle Rostock website at www.kunsthallerostock.de.
