Lennard defeats leukemia: Christmas full of hope in Rostock!

During the contemplative Advent season, the focus is not only on the preparations for the festival, but also on the numerous challenges that many families face. The story of Lennard Büchse, whose family was confronted with the leukemia diagnosis of a six-year-old boy in the summer of 2024, is particularly moving. Thanks to the support of the Children's Cancer Aid Rostock and an impressive health turnaround, Lennard has been cancer-free since the beginning of the year. This impressive news was announced by the Baltic Sea newspaper carefully documented.

The Christmas campaign “Helping brings joy” is currently running, which has already raised over 13,000 euros for projects by the Rostock and Bad Doberan editorial team since the first weekend of Advent. You have the opportunity to participate in this campaign and provide future help until December 24th.

Flood protection and public events

The safety of the city is also on the agenda, especially when it comes to flood protection. On December 8th, a public event will take place in the town hall at which the planned two-meter-high protective wall will be discussed. Experts warn of increasing storm and flood events, which have increased significantly in recent years.

The premiere of the ice revue “Holiday on Ice” under the title “Cinema of Dreams” on December 4th is no less exciting. Building the ice surface took a whopping 25 hours. The event attracts many visitors who have the opportunity to see the show not only on the first evening, but also twice on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. There are still remaining tickets available, so the anticipation of an entertaining weekend is increasing.

Insights into the work of aid organizations

The challenges that families with sick children have to overcome are enormous. Organizations like that German Leukemia Research Aid are committed to supporting affected children and their families with various projects. These organizations offer financial help, psychosocial support and important information to support those affected during difficult times.

An example of the effectiveness of such help is Paula's family, who was confronted with a leukemia diagnosis in October 2021. After several treatment cycles, a bone marrow transplant was successfully carried out in January 2023. The support from the Children's Aid was essential during this difficult time and shows how important such offers of help are.

Protective measures for the future

Another hot topic is the new speed camera on Mühlendamm, which went into operation last week. This is intended to ensure more safety in road traffic by reducing the speed to 30 km/h.

At the same time, investigations are underway in the case of the missing Fabian, who disappeared on October 10th. The alleged murderer remains in custody until further notice, and the suspect's lawyer is already planning to file a complaint. The population is tense and is following developments with great attention.
