Mecklenburg Bulls: Coach Gutsche extends and reaches for something higher!
The Mecklenburg Bulls Schwerin have earned a solid place in the Baltic Sea-Spree handball regional league and remain undefeated. In their last game they defeated the newly promoted Blau-Weiß Berlin with a clear 34:19. This means the Bulls now have 10:2 points and an impressive goal difference of +42. Coach Michael Gutsche, who recently extended his contract until 2027, has big plans for the team. His goal is to achieve the best possible position and to lead the bulls back into the 3rd league. This reports Northern Courier.
In the game against Blau-Weiß Berlin, the team quickly made things clear - after just twelve minutes, the opposing crew took their first time-out after the bulls took a 7-2 lead. At halftime it was 18:10, and after the break the home team continued to increase the pace, which resulted in a 21:11 lead in the 36th minute. Bahne Lübbert was particularly accurate and scored six goals.
A new wind with Michael Gutsche
Michael Gutsche, who has held the reins as coach of the first men's team since July 15th, is bringing a breath of fresh air into the team. The 38-year-old has already celebrated success with the young bulls and is known for his commitment to training young handball players. A milestone in his coaching career was the outstanding season in the 2020/2021 Youth Bundesliga, when he reached the cup finals. Most recently, Gutsche led the preparation of the B youth team for the youth Bundesliga and was able to record three wins in three games. This lifts the Mecklenburg bulls out.
The positive response to Gutsche can be felt throughout. Office manager Mathias Waechter and handball department manager Frank Schünemann are enthusiastic about the new coach, who will work with young talents who have already celebrated successes together. Gutsche himself is not only happily married and the father of a little daughter, but can also count on a strong team of supporters.
Outlook for the upcoming games
The bulls have set themselves the next goal: Next Sunday, at 4 p.m., they will host the Ludwigsfelder HC in the Kästner Hall. There will also be a duel against Lausitzer HC Cottbus a week later.
