Price increases for buses and trains: This is how expensive it will be from December!

From December 1, 2023, passengers in the Warnow Transport Association (VVW) will have to prepare for significant price increases. On average, ticket prices increase by around 5.7 percent. Single tickets are particularly affected. In Rostock the single ticket will be increased from the previous 3 euros to 3.20 euros, while in Güstrow and Bützow it will climb from 2.20 euros to 2.30 euros. The price increase for single trips in other tariff zones varies between 20 and 50 cents, meaning that many commuters and occasional drivers will have to dig deeper into their pockets in the new year. This is reported by the Nordkurier.

But other tickets are also becoming more expensive. The 4-card in Rostock will increase by 40 cents to 10.80 euros, while in Güstrow and Bützow it will rise from 7.60 euros to 8 euros. Day tickets in Rostock will now cost 8 euros instead of 7.70 euros, and day tickets in the entire VVW network will cost 20.20 euros - so a noticeable increase here too. Short-distance prices are then 2.40 euros, and taking a bike with you is 50 cents more expensive at 7 euros in the subscription model.

Changes to ticket offerings

Around 40 percent of the ticket products previously offered will no longer be available from December. These include, among others, the family day ticket, the HappyHourTicket and the Mobile60 PartnerTicket. On the other hand, the Deutschlandticket, which is popular throughout Germany, remains available as a subscription. The Rostock region has already celebrated its 100,000th. Ticket issued, which underlines the high demand.

However, there are relaxations for certain groups. Pupils, students, trainees and seniors can hope for discounts. The offers for companies, such as the Deutschlandticket Job, also remain in place; Over 200 companies are already using this offer. Anyone who still wants to use the previous ticket offer can benefit from a transitional regulation: single and day tickets at the old tariff will continue to be valid until the end of May 2026.
