Complete closure in Dummerstorf: diversions and construction sites until July!
The street in Dummerstorf is temporarily at a standstill. Starting today, the intersection at the commercial area in the Rostock district will be completely closed for around three weeks. This is a response to the urgent need to renew the roadway. Over the last few years, cracks and thinning of the asphalt have repeatedly been found, which now need to be finally repaired. The renovation work is planned until July 9, 2025, and the cost amounts to around 337,000 euros, which will be borne by the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Loud NDR Diversions on the A19 are already signposted to offer drivers alternative routes.
But that's not the only construction site nearby. Highway 20 will also be affected. The southern part of the Dummerstorf junction will be closed for around a week. This measure applies to both the entrance towards Stettin and the exit towards Dummerstorf. Concrete information on the exact closure time is currently pending, which creates additional uncertainty for road users.
Rebus provides a diversion
Bus transport is particularly affected by the closure. Local bus company Rebus routes will need to be rerouted, with temporary stops put in place to maintain connectivity for residents. “We try to accommodate passengers as best as possible,” says the company. The diversion routes are also signposted so that no one is left behind.
More construction sites in the area
However, it would be too short-sighted to look at the construction site in Dummerstorf in isolation. Numerous road construction projects are underway throughout the Rostock district and beyond. Street MV lists, among other things, road repairs on many highway sections. The A11 from Penkun to Pomellen is affected, and the A14 near Plater Berg as well as the higher-level B104 and B109 also have construction sites that are putting additional strain on traffic in the region.
The next few weeks could be a test of patience for many road users. News and developments will certainly be followed as the renovation work progresses. In Dummerstorf, however, the picture will certainly not look as usual again until after July 9th.
