New Späti in Schwerin: Post office with long opening hours!
Something is happening in Schwerin: There has been a new Späti called “Späti61” at Friedrich-Engels-Straße 2C since the beginning of September. The store has quickly made a name for itself thanks to its wide range, ranging from drinks to snacks and international products. What is particularly noteworthy is that the Späti will also function as a post office from November 3rd. This innovation brings a breath of fresh air to the area and offers residents a point of contact that is open longer. The post office will be open from 9 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., which is particularly beneficial for working people who want to get their mail done late in the evening. Nordkurier reports.
The operator of the Spätis, Ossi, is a 25-year-old Kurd who came to Germany alone from Syria ten years ago. With a lot of hard work, he taught himself the German language and runs the Späti together with a friend as a company under civil law. Ossi's family still lives in Syria and can look back with pride on his success. It took Ossi three months to renovate the former Café Barvinok, which houses the Späti, and he did a lot of the work himself. Despite some delays in deliveries and technical preparations, the Späti is now fully operational and has already received positive feedback from the first customers.
A place with added value
The opening of the post office in Späti61 is good news for residents, as until now there was no complete postal service in the area. Customers can not only post letters and registered mail there, but also send international shipments. An additional plus point is the copy service, which is also missing in the area and reports humane needs. Ossi and his team show that they are open to customers' wishes and are striving to expand and improve the service.
The situation in the region shows that Ossi is not just concerned with business, but also with cultural exchange and integration into society. Given recent developments in the Kurdish movement, namely the PKK's announcement that it would lay down its arms and disband, Ossi's involvement could also have a symbolic meaning. This decision was seen by many, including UN Secretary-General António Guterres, as a ray of hope for peace and stability in the region BBC reports.
In the coming weeks, the Späti “Späti61” could develop even more community spirit as Ossi and his friend continue to tailor their offering to the needs of their customers. The first reactions show that the Späti is already becoming a popular meeting place - a place where you can not only run errands, but also immerse yourself in the worlds of other cultures.
