Test matches ensure excitement: Neubrandenburg's teams start training strongly!

Sports are going well again in northern Germany: preparations for the coming season are in full swing! The test matches in team sports give a first foretaste of what fans can expect in the next few weeks. In the handball scene, Fortuna Neubrandenburg was convincing across the board and put HC Vorpommern-Greifswald, who were promoted to the fourth league, in their place with 32:26. There was also an exciting exchange of blows in football: Malchower SV won 2-1 against SV Siedenbollentin, who were also promoted to the top league. [NDR 1 Radio MV](https://www.ndr.de/nachrichten/mecklenburg-vorpommern/haff-mueritz/handballer-und-fussballer- Preparen-sich-in-testspiele-auf-saison-vor,mvregioneubrandenburg-446.html) reports on these exciting events in the region.

But that wasn't all! More test matches are scheduled for Saturday, and the teams can hardly keep their feet still. Exciting encounters are planned such as the meeting between Penzliner SV and the Torgelow/Ueckermünde game association and the visit of TSG Neustrelitz to SV Altlüdersdorf. These games are an excellent opportunity for teams to prepare for the upcoming year of competition and to check their own form.

Neubrandenburg Sports High School and the youngsters

A young generation of sporting talent also has the opportunity to prepare for a promising sporting career at the Neubrandenburg Sports High School. Admission takes place according to clear guidelines set by the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture and the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania State Sports Association. All interested parties must submit a fully completed application and prove that they are suitable for the specific sport. This includes, among other things, taking part in an aptitude test in the 5th grade and a recommendation from the state coach from the 7th grade onwards.

In order to cope with the double burden of school and sport, it is necessary to also demonstrate academic achievements. Furthermore, from grade 6 onwards, there is the option of a “taster week” to get a first impression of the sports high school and the training it offers. Contact persons for sporting matters include Kay Butzlaff for the female handball team and Karsten Neels for the male selection. You can find out more on the Sportgymnasium homepage.

The upcoming sporting events and the promotion of young talent clearly show that sport is very important in Neubrandenburg. We just have to wait and see what surprises the teams will give us in the coming season!
