Hufeland canteen in Wolgast: New location with a fresh concept!
There is exciting news in Wolgast: The Hufeland canteen is celebrating its reopening! On August 18th, the canteen will move to a new location on Ostrowskistrasse. The new premises were previously the “Nordeck” restaurant and were most recently operated by “Um’s Eck”. The owners, Jan Schumacher and Yves Goltze, have proven themselves to have a good hand with this decision, because the new location not only offers more space, but also a more spacious kitchen, sufficient storage space and new changing rooms for the employees.
Although the dining room is a little smaller, the canteen has a beautiful, large outdoor terrace that guests will definitely enjoy. A ramp also ensures barrier-free access, especially for the delivery service. With relocated kitchen technology and a new counter, the start of the new era for the Hufeland canteen will certainly be a complete success. It is also interesting that the lunch menu will be presented on two screens in the future, making it easier for guests to choose.
New variety of dishes and regional collaborations
From opening day, visitors can look forward to an expanded menu. In the future, some higher-priced dishes, such as pike perch and rump steak, will also be offered. In addition, the canteen will prepare food for several schools in the area in the future. This makes the Hufeland canteen not only a meeting place for the population, but also an important partner for local educational institutions.
In addition, the owners already have three canteens in the Peene shipyard, where around 300 lunches are prepared every day. As the Ostsee-Zeitung reports, the Ostrowskistrasse location has an eventful history. The original “Nordeck” restaurant opened on May 1, 1987 and changed operators several times, including the “Backlokal” and the “Um’s Eck” canteen, which were open until October 2019.
A look outside the box: melanoma and skin health
The increasing incidence of skin cancer is a serious issue that needs all of our attention. Even if the Hufeland canteen in Wolgast becomes a new place to go, it is important to also pay attention to our health - because danger can lurk in every ray of sunshine.
