New Plusbus in the Aurich district: Faster connections for everyone!

Aurich, Deutschland - A fresh wind blows through the Aurich district, because since May 2023, six new "Plusbus" lines have ensured a noticeable improvement in public transport. The new connections offer citizens: inside, faster access to important destinations in the region, such as Wittmund, Jever, Krummhörn and Ihlow. School office manager Jens Kleen is happy about the good assumption of the lines, even if the start was not without some start -up difficulties. The planning and coordination were anything but a sugar slack due to existing contracts and the necessary votes with neighboring municipalities. [NWZONLINE reports that] (https://www.nwzonline.de/landkreis-aurich/plusbus-in-aurich-neue-linien-zwehr- und-access- and-access_4,104369863.html) also serves the weekly evaluation of complaints to optimize the processes.

The new timetables provide hourly departures that apply from morning to evening, even on weekends and public holidays. Here are the most important lines at a glance:

  • line 480: Aurich - Wittmund - Jever
  • line 421: Emden - Pewsum - Greetsiel
  • line 422: Emden - Loquard - Wybelsum - Pewsum - Eilsum
  • line 450: Aurich - Riepe - Emden
  • line 451: Aurich - Ihlow - Simonswolde
  • line 410: Aurich - Georgsheil - Emden

improvement of the connection

The new lines not only improve regional mobility, but also ensure better connection to rail traffic, which is particularly advantageous for commuters. The first evaluation of the Aurich line - Jever already shows that between 25 and 30 people regularly use the connection. Specific timetables that are tailored to their needs were created for schools in the district. However, it is reported that many students have not yet been informed about these offers. Here the district plans to strengthen marketing to improve the information situation.

In addition, the Aurich district strives to further optimize the bus connections. A tender for the "bundle of the line" Großheide-Hage is planned for 2026, and the connections between Aurich and Dornum are also to be improved. The district thus sets the course for sustainable mobility in the region.

A look over the borders

The concept of the "Plusbus" lines is not only in the Aurich district, but also in other federal states. From the state-related bus lines in Baden-Württemberg, known as "regional lines" to similar models in Brandenburg and Lower Saxony, it can be seen how important a well-coordinated connection to local public transport is. In Lower Saxony, for example, a study was carried out in 2015 for the introduction of a nationwide bus line network, and since 2017 these lines have been funded by the Lower Saxony State Transport Society. This is in a larger context in which the adaptation and improvement of local transport is promoted throughout Germany.

The district of Aurich has taken an important step in this direction with the new "Plusbus" lines. This creates the prerequisites in order to not only offer the citizens: not only a comfortable and reliable mobility inside, but also to increase the attractiveness of local public transport. Further information on the "Plusbus" lines and their design are available on the official side of the district available.

The changes in public transport are an example of how well thought -out planning and cooperation between different institutions can lead to a real improvement in the quality of life in the region. And that is what counts in the end.
