Rocker summit in Halbemond: 1000 bikers and strict controls await you!

Things will be really busy in Halbemond at the weekend, as the motorcycle club panel MC is holding its “World Run” in the Motodrom. The operators, Meik and Wiebke Lüders, expect around 1,000 rockers, but are sure that the number of participants could even rise to 1,500. NWZonline brings the details of this event.

The preparations were made professionally, and Lüders describes the meeting as one of the quietest events in recent years. “The event is well organized and many of the participants are ordinary citizens such as academics and business people,” he emphasizes. In order to be able to counter the financial consequences of the pandemic, the operators also invested in the event. However, there are strict requirements that make the meeting more difficult than at other major events. The authorities in particular have ordered stricter controls, which Lüders sharply criticizes.

Strict controls and traffic restrictions

How East Frisian courier reports, the Aurich/Wittmund police are particularly prepared for the event. The officials have announced increased presence and intensive controls, especially on the access roads to Halbemond. In order to manage the traffic volume, Nadörster Straße between the B72 and the intersection of Halbemonder Straße/Leezweg will be completely closed. Detours are signposted for road users and they are advised to avoid the area as much as possible.

The police pursue a zero-tolerance strategy towards rocker crime and will punish criminal offenses and misdemeanors strictly. Despite these high security precautions, the authorities expect a quiet weekend in the community of 900 residents. Traffic volumes are expected to peak on Thursday afternoon and Friday, while residents must prepare for an increased police presence.

Rockers in context

Let's take a moment to look at the bigger picture that emerges with the rocker scene and its activities. In another region of Germany, like RBB24 shows, almost 1000 motorcyclists recently held demonstrations in Berlin. Above all, it was about the controversial ban on wearing cowls, which applies to criminal rocker groups such as the Hells Angels and Bandidos. Here it becomes clear that the rocker scene has a variety of facets - from peaceful meetings to delinquent activities.

In Halbemond, however, the focus is on togetherness. Despite security concerns, operators are optimistic that this event will be more of a positive experience for the community and participants. It remains to be seen how the situation will develop, but it is clear that the meeting is further evidence of the colorful and multi-layered world of biker culture, which not only causes a stir in society, but also actively tries to counter economic challenges.
