Summer is just around the corner and with it comes the excitement and anticipation of what is now the 41st water slide championship in Braunschweig. On Monday, June 30, 2025, the outdoor pool in Bürgerpark will be the venue for a lively event in which students in grades 5 and 6 will demonstrate their skills. Over 900 enthusiastic participants – including students, teachers and spectators – are expected as the slides, paddle boats and bike course take center stage. Stadtbad Braunschweig Sport und Freizeit GmbH is responsible for organizing this established event, which has thrilled generations of children since 1982.

The 45 participating school classes compete against each other in various disciplines such as sliding, paddling on the Oker and the bicycle course. Fractions of a second decide the title of water slide champion, and it is inevitable that the competition will not only be sporty, but also a lot of fun. Spectators can look forward to exciting duels and lots of closed competitions. It is to be expected that the hustle and bustle of the event could lead to restrictions in bathing operations, so the city advises people to plan their journey on foot, by bike or by public transport.
