Eintracht Braunschweig brings Heiner Backhaus as their new coach!
Eintracht Braunschweig has brought a breath of fresh air into its coaching team. Heiner Backhaus, who worked at Alemannia Aachen until recently, is taking on the responsibility as the second division club's new coach with great enthusiasm. After the separation from Daniel Scherning, who was no longer able to enjoy the necessary trust after the last season's performances, managing director Benjamin Kessel sees Backhaus as the “exactly right coach” for the challenges that lie ahead of the club. Backhaus has signed a contract until June 30, 2027 and succeeds Scherning, whose term was coming to an end after disappointing results, such as the defeat against 1. FC Nürnberg. Marc Pfitzner, who led the team impressively, ensured that they stayed in the relegation league on an interim basis.
Heiner Backhaus brings a wealth of experience. He has proven his skills as a coach in various leagues and clubs, including Inter Leipzig and BFC Dynamo. At Alemannia Aachen he achieved remarkable successes, such as promotion to the third division and subsequent relegation, which underlines his qualifications. His impressive playing career included stints at Hannover 96 as well as international appearances in Saudi Arabia and Cyprus before he ended his playing career at SV Blau-Weiß Farnstädt in 2014.
A new beginning for Braunschweig
With new sporting leadership, it is important to set the course for a successful future. Backhaus has already spoken positively about the collaboration with the team and the fans, which speaks for a harmonious start to the collaboration. Before his move, he had shown promising performances in the Regionalliga and the current season of the 3rd League, even if the last results did not quite meet his expectations with some close games. Kessel and the board believe he has the right touch to steer Eintracht through future challenges.
Although there are reports that point to uncertainty on the board, Braunschweig is taking this step towards the future. In the still fresh season, retained transfers that are tailored to Backhaus' playing style are on the agenda. The upcoming preparatory games could be crucial for integrating his ideas into the team. Transferring knowledge from the previous season could be helpful to ensure a smooth transition and a successful start to the season.
Joy is getting the fans excited and the hope is that Backhaus leads the team to new heights next season. The coming time will show whether the 50-year-old, who has already experienced a lot in his seven coaching positions, will also do good business in Braunschweig and lead Eintracht back to their old strength. One thing is certain: the stadium will certainly be full again for the upcoming games, and the anticipation for the new season is palpable.
