Mario Barth reveals: Bank on the Ringgleis – redesign after criticism!

In the last episode of his RTL show “Mario Barth reveals,” the comedian took up a completely unexpected topic from Braunschweig. The focus is not on a large construction project, but rather on a small but bizarre bench on the popular ring track. news38.de reports that Barth, known for his sharp criticism of public waste of tax money, denounced several points in this episode.

The ring track, once a railway system, is now an idyllic footpath and cycle path that is popular with athletes and families alike. Barth praised the conversion of the old tracks into a chic local recreation area. But then comes the sticking point: the bench is not optimally positioned. Instead of facing the picturesque landscape, it turns its back on a neglected fence full of bushes. Joachim Llambi, the guest on the show, joked that this view could be described as “a glimpse of greenery” - although that was more of an ironic comment.

City responds to criticism

Barth didn't miss the opportunity and asked the city why the bank was pointing in this “nice” direction. The city's press office explained that the line of sight was blocked by the thicket. That brings us to the next decision: the bench is rotated 180 degrees so that it now faces a garden center, a car wash and a parking lot. The city quickly showed understanding after being confronted with the situation.

A few days after the broadcast of the program, the bank had already been turned, and the people of Braunschweig were divided on social media: While some commented humorously on Barth's mocking reporting, others praised the use of the ring track and the improvement in the quality of life in the city. It's not the first time that the comedian has pointed out Braunschweig's absurdities. Almost three years ago he criticized a lousy public toilet in the cult district.

Public waste in view

The debate over the bank is part of a broader issue of public tax waste, which is highlighted again in the taxpayers' association's new black book. It says on steuerzahler.de that many comparable cases have been uncovered in which taxpayers' money is used unsustainably and often even absurdly.

Viewers of such programs and concerned citizens can only hope that these bizarre mishaps will help develop greater sensitivity to the responsible use of tax revenues in Braunschweig in the future. At least the city could come up with the idea of setting up a bench so that it leads to a beautiful view. This could make your stay on the ring track a little more pleasant.

However, the matter also has personal relevance for Barth: he recently had to cancel a planned appearance in Braunschweig. The replacement date has already been postponed to October 11th, so that his fans will hopefully be able to enjoy themselves live again soon.
