New hope: Jäkel strengthens Eintracht Braunschweig!

Eintracht Braunschweig caused a stir again in the summer transfer period. On July 2nd, the newcomer Mehmet Can Aydin was presented, and that is only the first of a total of four new additions for the coming season. Ron-Thorben Hoffmann, Lino Tempelmann and Lukas Frenkert also join the team. The focus is on 24-year-old Frederik Jäkel, who moves from RB Leipzig to Eintracht Braunschweig. This transfer was officially confirmed by both clubs on Friday and is eagerly awaited, not least because of Jäkel's history of injury, which has severely affected its time in recent years.

Jäkel comes as a loan, for 12 months, with a purchase option for 2026. In front of the training camp in St. Johann Reisen he and his new teammates to Austria on July 4th. Sports director Benjamin Kessel sees Jäkel a robust and quick central defender, which has duel strength and vertical solutions in the game. "We have a good hand with this transfer," says Kessel.

a change in the defense area

The commitment of the central defender is particularly important because Eintracht Braunschweig recently had three departures in the defense: Ermin Bicakcic, Robert Ivanov and Paul Jaeckel left the club. Jäkel, who was loaned to SV Elversberg in the past two years, also had to recover from a cruciate ligament rupture in February 2022 and played only one minute in the second division last season. The association's hope is now that Jäkel stays fit and can exploit his full potential under coach Heiner Backhaus.

Jäkel pursues the intention of introducing his strengths and skills in the new team. The player has extended his contract with RB Leipzig until 2027. The changeable course of his career, which even contained four borrowings, shows that he really wants to take the next step.

a promising new beginning

Eintracht is facing an exciting season and the newcomers bring a breath of fresh air to the team. Jäkel, Aydin, Hoffmann, Tempelmann and Frenkert could take decisive roles in the BTSV squad. Local fans hope that the team will quickly come together after the upheaval and benefit from these transfers in the new season.

Overall, it remains to be seen how Jäkel and his new teammates will accept the challenge, but the signs are on departure and renewed competitiveness for Eintracht Braunschweig.
