Construction site chaos in the Celle district: traffic problems from September 8th!

In the Celle district, many road users face challenges because several construction sites cause traffic restrictions. Like the news portal Celle newspaper reported, several projects are planned from September 8, 2025 that will partially or even completely close the road.

An important point on the list is the full closure of the K38 between Eldingen and Metzingen. A cycle path is being built here and the bus stops are being converted to make them barrier-free. At the same time, Rehbockstrasse in Celle is being renovated, which will involve both partial and full closures. Work will also be carried out on three bridges in the area of K46, K47 and K49 by October 2025, which will allow traffic to pass in one lane.

Current construction sites and their effects

Furthermore, work to renew the “Schmiedestrasse” bus stop on Mittelstrasse began on August 11, 2025. A replacement stop has been set up and completion of the work is scheduled for the end of October 2025. Another project concerns the Wilhelm-Heinichen-Ring in Celle, where the first construction phase of the renovation has already been completed. Traffic here also has to be routed in one lane and the total construction time is around three years.

In addition, the renovation of Breite Straße in Celle has been underway since July 8, 2024. This work includes the replacement of utility lines, street lighting and service lines and is expected to take two years.

The current status of transport routes

Like the construction industry on their website bauindustrie.de In summary, the focus in recent years has been on the maintenance of transport routes and less on new buildings. This trend is also reflected in the financial resources: The federal government has increased investments to around 27.1 billion euros for 2024, which represents an increase compared to previous years. Nevertheless, many municipalities see major financing problems, and the investment backlog in transport infrastructure has increased from 25 billion euros in 2011 to 53 billion euros in 2024.

The traffic situation due to the construction sites could become stressful for the affected drivers in Celle. It is recommended to plan alternative routes and be prepared for longer travel times. Even if the construction work is intended to improve the condition of the roads and sidewalks, it is advisable to be patient while the contractors do their work. The traffic portal verkehrslage.de points out that there are currently no reports of any particular dangers from the construction sites, but that careful driving remains essential.
