Lightning checks in the Celle district: 40th calendar week will be dangerous!

Road safety will be a top priority in the Celle district in the coming weeks. The police are planning targeted speed checks in the 40th calendar week of 2025 in order to avoid accidents and to critically examine the driving behavior of road users. This action falls within the international “ROADPOL Safety Days” campaign, which aims to reduce the number of serious and fatal road accidents. In Europe, many police authorities are taking part in this initiative to promote safety on the streets. Celle press reports that the inspections will take place from Monday, September 29th to Friday, October 3rd in various locations within the district.

The exact control dates are carefully determined. For example, checks will take place on Monday in Wathlingen, Nienhagen and other places. Things will continue in Helmerkamp and the surrounding area on Tuesday. Further locations are planned for Wednesday and Thursday, while intensive investigations will also be carried out on the main roads B 3, L 180 and K 74 at the weekend. However, the police point out that changes are possible at any time for official and technical reasons.

Results of previous checks

An inpatient check in Unterlüß, which was carried out on September 16th, showed how successful these measures have already been. 46 vehicles were checked and 18 speeding violations were detected. In addition, four violations due to the use of cell phones by both cyclists and vehicle drivers were documented. A driver also had THC in his blood. A total of 23 administrative offense proceedings were initiated, supported by various traffic education discussions. This information comes from the Nordic Post.

The need for such controls is supported by current traffic accident statistics. This not only offers a comprehensive overview of accidents, but also shows what measures are necessary in terms of legislation and traffic education. The Statistical offices collect data on accidents, those involved and vehicles that are essential for targeted improvements in road safety.

It remains to be seen how the planned controls in the Celle district will be received by road users. But one thing is certain: With these measures, the police want to send a strong signal for more safety on the streets. Every individual is required to critically question their driving behavior. With this in mind: drive carefully and follow the traffic rules!
