Discover the hidden history of Delmenhorst: themed tours 2025!

There's a lot going on in Delmenhorst when it comes to exploring the city's history. From August, those interested will have the opportunity to find out more about the exciting past and life in the city on special themed tours. These tours are carried out by experienced tour guides who have a lot of enthusiasm and knowledge.

Various guided tours are offered between August and October. The “Historic Buildings” tour kicks off on August 30th at 2 p.m. The series will continue with the historical tour “Of Heretics, Witches and Counts” on September 14th at 3 p.m. Here, visitors can explore historical stories on the castle island, while the last tour in August takes a look at the city's striking buildings around 1900.

Insights into history

Exciting themed tours await participants in October. The “Marketplace of Politics” tour begins on October 3rd at 10:30 a.m., where the focus is on the impressive town hall complex, which was built between 1909 and 1925. This will be followed by the “Women in Delmenhorst” tour on October 11th at 2 p.m., in which the influence of women on the city's history will be discussed. All tours start at the water tower and are consistently cheap - just 6.00 euros per person, while children up to 14 years of age can come along for free when accompanied by an adult. Registration is possible via the Tourist Information Office, although spontaneous participation is also very welcome. If you would like to find out more about the tours, you can do so at Delmenews read up.

The cross-border rail project “Wunderline”, which is intended to create a continuous train connection from Groningen to Bremen in 2024, brings with it further interesting opportunities for discovery. A free app called “Wunderline GO” not only offers information about 15 locations in Germany and the Netherlands, but also impresses with augmented reality (AR) and 3D animations. Particularly exciting for Delmenhorst is the Industriekul tour, which leads from the train station to the impressive Nordwolle area, one of the largest industrial monuments in Europe. The 1500 meter route is easily manageable on foot, ideal for a relaxing day of exploring. Details about the app and the individual routes are on the Wunderline website to find.

Interactive journey of discovery with AR

But that's not all. The EPOCI® app turns city tours into an interactive experience. Visitors can aim at marked locations and receive three-dimensional representations of buildings and places on their smartphone. Gamification elements make learning playful - this allows knowledge to be accumulated and experiences to be shared. The app also offers barrier-free and multilingual use, ideal for all explorers in the region. More information about this can be found on epoci.de.

In short: Delmenhorst has a lot to offer and the upcoming themed tours invite you to rediscover the history of the city. Take advantage of the opportunity and be there – it will definitely be worth it!
