Memorial tour against racism: Remembering the pogrom night in Delmenhorst
On November 8, 2025, a special city tour of the Broad Alliance Against Right will take place in Delmenhorst. This event, which begins at 11 a.m., is dedicated to the pogrom night of November 9th to 10th, 1938, a dark chapter in history that also affected the town of Delmenhorst. The experienced city guide Hans-Joachim Müller will accompany the participants to prominent places in the city center and inform them about the events of that night. Among other things, the Delmenhorst synagogue on Cramerstrasse was severely damaged by arson.
A central point of the tour is the fate of the Jewish Fink family, which represents Jewish life in Delmenhorst. This family defended itself against the discrimination that became more and more widespread from 1933 onwards and fell victim to the horrors of that time as a result of the Nazis' extermination policy. With this event, the alliance not only wants to commemorate the past, but also take a stand against racism and exclusion, which are still present in many areas of today's society.
Meeting point and participation
The meeting point for the tour is the alliance's stand at Langen Straße 23. The good news: Participation is free of charge and the event lasts about an hour. The alliance hopes to attract numerous interested people who would like to engage with history and set an example for tolerance and human rights.
With actions like this, the Broad Alliance Against the Right wants to both remember and educate. Especially at a time when right-wing extremist tendencies are gaining importance again, it is important to be vigilant and show a solidarity pact.
The responsibility of the present
Beyond city leadership, it is crucial that we also deal with the current situation and actively fight against exclusion and racism. The event gives us an opportunity to reflect on the past and draw lessons for the future. The story of the Fink family and many other similar stories must not be forgotten. In this way we can promote good cooperation in our community and set an example for diversity and respect.
For those who want to learn more about the circumstances and historical context, today's popular topics such as modular construction and local housing initiatives are also of interest. These aspects show that we can learn from the past and find innovative solutions to the challenges of the present. Ultimately, it is important to take responsibility and actively work on the positive development of our community.
