Emden in November: Experience culture, art and Christmas magic!

There's a lot on offer in Emden in the coming weeks! The dark season is not only good for mulled wine and cosiness, but also for a wealth of events that bring young and old together. Especially on Sunday, November 2nd, 2025, the city will be dedicated to Emden Museum Day.

The Museum Day, now in its 32nd edition, takes place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and has the motto “Discover together – marvel together”. Ten museums, cultural centers and even museum ships invite you to take exciting discovery tours, where both the inquisitive and the curious will get their money's worth. Here visitors can gain real knowledge and be enchanted by guided tours, theater performances and hands-on activities. And the best thing: a network card for just six euros gives you access to several museums. Emden-Touristik also promises a varied program, which will be announced a few weeks before the event.

Shopping pleasure and holidays

What would a Sunday be without a little shopping? That's what the Emden business community thought too and is opening its doors on this day from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. for happy Sunday shopping. So it will be worth visiting the shopping street!

But that's not all that Emden has to offer. The Long Night of Art will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 4th, 2025. There is free entry to the current exhibitions from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., with a guided tour from 6 p.m. and the social event “Have a beer with… André Kirbach” from 7 p.m.

Cultural highlights in November and December

The cultural landscape of Emden has even more surprises in store for the coming weeks. For example, the “Comic Night” on Thursday, November 6th, 2025, which is already almost sold out. There are also some outstanding musical events on the calendar, including the “Kings of Floyd” on Friday November 14th and the Gregorian Choir on Wednesday November 26th. It will also be very exciting for classical music fans on Tuesday, December 2nd with the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra.

There is also a lot on offer in the theater: “The Fall of the House of Usher” on Tuesday, November 25th and “Mindful Murder” on Tuesday, December 16th are just some of the plays that can be seen. If you prefer something more traditional, you shouldn't miss the Low German theater performances, such as “Kohlmeyers sien Dochters” or “Se seegt. He seggt” in November.

And for all Christmas lovers: The Christmas market in Emden begins on November 24th, 2025, with the lighting festival at the Maritime Engelkemarkt at 5 p.m. Santa Claus will appear on stage every day from December 1st to delight the little ones. Additional Advent markets and a winter steam market make the pre-Christmas period perfect.

A holiday afternoon with a traditional Elführungje on December 31st rounds off the year. For the sporty visitors there is also the New Year's Eve run at the turn of the year.
