Gifhorn's honorary citizen Addi Langlotz celebrates 90 years of commitment!

There is currently a big celebration in Gifhorn because Adolf “Addi” Langlotz recently celebrated his 90th birthday. The honorary citizen of Gifhorn and the Ukrainian city of Korssun-Schewtschenkiwskyj was celebrated by numerous companions and guests of honor, including the former mayor Manfred Birth and members of the Uniformed Rifle Corps (USK). How kurt-gifhorn.de reports, guests and friends are impressed by Langlotz's creativity and charity, which he has demonstrated over the years.

Born in Dresden, Langlotz survived the Allied bombing and was heavily involved in Gifhorn throughout his life. He is a legend, especially in the sports world, especially through his work in judo, not only as an active athlete, but also as district association chairman and co-organizer of the Judo World Championships in Essen. He was also group leader of the USK traditional dance group for many years.

The circle of friends in crisis

But while the celebrations for Langlotz are taking a happy turn, the future of the Korsun-Shevchenkivskyi circle of friends, which he led for over ten years, looks bleak. The club was founded in 1990 but is now facing the possibility of dissolution as a new chairman could not be found at a recent meeting. Loud waz-online.de Langlotz announced at the end of 2018 that he would no longer be available for the office for health reasons.

The last general meeting in the German House did not produce any results as far as the club members are concerned - the circle of friends currently only has 17 members. Since deputy chairman Horst Ganz resigned from his post in 2018, not much is happening here. Langlotz remains in office on a provisional basis, but is planning another meeting to discuss the possible dissolution.

A look at the future

Langlotz has already organized over 20 citizen trips to the twin city and led numerous aid transports to the Ukraine, but worries about the club's future weigh heavily on him. He hopes that someone will soon be found who will take responsibility to continue the valuable work of the circle of friends and avert dissolution.

While Langlotz remains committed to his community, he is also working on a new children's book for his youngest great-grandson. In this way he remains active in the creative world and shows that you can still achieve a lot even when you are older.

It remains to be seen whether the circle of friends will come to an end or whether a new wind will arise about its future. One thing is certain, however: Adolf “Addi” Langlotz will always be remembered for his achievements and his tireless love for the community kurt-gifhorn.de impressively demonstrated.
