On June 13th, a tragic traffic accident occurred in the Gifhorn district in which a 16-year-old man was killed while riding his moped. The incident happened at around 7.30 a.m. on the district road north of Adenbüttel when the teenager was coming from the K48 from the direction of Didderse and collided with a Ford Transit while turning onto the K56, which had the right of way.
The circumstances of the accident are now the subject of investigations by the police in Meine. It remains to be clarified how the momentous collision occurred. According to initial information, the teenager suffered fatal injuries. However, the 23-year-old driver of the Ford Transit and two passengers remained uninjured, which is a small ray of hope in this sad situation.
Emergency services in action
After the accident, rescue helicopters and emergency services were alerted to help as quickly as possible. The accident site had to be completely closed for several hours until the necessary measures were completed. The closure was finally lifted at 11:25 a.m.

However, according to Europarl, these numbers have declined slightly in recent years. Between 2010 and 2020, the number of road deaths in Europe fell by 36 percent.
