150 bikers start a spectacular motorcycle pilgrimage in Eichsfeld!

Yesterday around 150 bikers and a trike driver flocked to the annual motorcycle pilgrimage in Eichsfeld. This popular event has now firmly established itself in the region's calendar and attracted participants from the districts of Göttingen, Eichsfeld, Northeim and Unstrut-Hainich. The starting signal was at the pilgrimage site “Maria in der Wiese” in Germershausen, where the bikers gathered to receive the travel blessing from Deacon Michael Preiß from Gieboldehausen and the Protestant pastor Horst Reinecke from Osterode, who took part in the pilgrimage for the fourth time this year.

After the blessed start, the participants sang two canons, which added a festive touch to the harmonious experience. The tour first took the motorcyclists towards Lake Constance and, after returning to Germershausen for two and a half hours, gave them enough time to enjoy the ride. A highlight was the cozy gathering that followed, where the volunteer pilgrimage team provided coffee, cake and bratwurst.

A liturgy of the word and the freedom of biking

At the end, the participants came together for the word service at the outdoor altar, which was designed by Preiß and Reinecke. In his moving sermon, Pastor Reinecke compared motorcyclists to butterflies that become active again after winter and spoke about the themes of freedom, hope and change in life. For many, biking is not just a hobby, but also a feeling of independence and joy in life, a perspective that is of great importance to the participants.

This community event not only strengthens solidarity among biker friends, but also offers the opportunity to spend a day in nature and recharge your batteries. Such events are important for the region and attract many two- and three-wheeled enthusiasts every year, which underlines the local connection.

The day was rounded off by a variety of conversations and stories among the participants, which shows that the motorcycle pilgrimage is more than just a tour - it is a real community experience that connects heart and soul. And so next year the travel blessing will accompany the motorcyclists on their journey again.
