Planting trees for the future: Schwanewede starts environmental protection campaign!

What does Schwanewede have to offer today? On November 16, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., the well-known lottery “Bingo!” broadcast, and the focus is on nature and environmental protection. The event promises not only exciting entertainment, but also useful contributions to our environment. The proceeds from this popular lottery flow directly into projects that benefit nature and the environment. This is what our colleagues report NDR.

A highlight of the day takes place directly in Schwanewede: six classes get active in the community forest as part of “Bingo! on site” and plant trees. The children not only learn how important trees are for our ecosystem, but can also lend a hand with shoveling and watering. “Forest bathing” is also on the program, which is intended to introduce the little ones to the wonders of nature. In this way, awareness of nature conservation is created in a playful way.

Committed pensioners to nature conservation

Another remarkable project comes from Göttingen. Here a group of “sharp retirees” are involved in nature conservation work on a voluntary basis. They work with chainsaws and edge cutters to clear an overgrown avenue of fruit trees. It turns out that commitment to nature conservation knows no age, and the valuable work of this group is proof of life's activity in retirement.

The ones from “Bingo!” The projects supported are diverse. One funding focus is on “Practical nature conservation at educational institutions”. Here, the ecological condition of outdoor facilities at daycare centers, schools and universities is improved. The participation of volunteers is also important, because only together can a sustainable contribution be made. The focus is on improving areas such as biotopes or orchards, which can be very beneficial for nature, as is the case with the Bingo Environmental Foundation can be read.

A wide range of projects

  • Biotop-Anlagen auf ökologisch wertlosem Gelände
  • Streuobstwiesen und Beerensträucher
  • Hecken und Kräuterbeete
  • Naturnahe Gewässer und Wildblumenpflanzungen

But it's not just nature conservation that's being taken care of. On the same day, an exciting football game between the Buffalo Bills and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will take place at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, N.Y. which starts at 1:00 p.m. Broadcast via CBS. Ty Johnson scored a 52-yard touchdown to give the Bills a 21-20 lead at halftime. So things are looking exciting in the sports world, while the little conservationists-to-be are cavorting around in Schwanewede!

Once again it shows how important it is to be committed to the environment while at the same time passing on values to the next generation. There's something in the air - the combination of fun and responsibility can not only inspire young hearts about nature conservation, but also promote an understanding of how our actions influence the environment.
