Mysterious burning object falls from the sky over Lachem!
On the evening of December 4, 2025, a mysterious incident occurred near Lachem that caused excitement among local residents. An alarm was raised at 6:27 p.m. after a woman spotted a burning object in the sky. The flames were clearly visible on site, which immediately put the fire brigade and rescue services on alert. The Hessisch Oldendorf and Krückeberg fire departments responded with 31 emergency services and six vehicles, while a DRK ambulance was also used. According to Dewezet, city fire chief Tobias Ebbighausen decided to do so from his place of residence Observing the situation, however, could not see any flames.
The alarmed eyewitness informed her husband, who immediately called 112. The city fire department's command vehicle was then dispatched, and the “Falke 1” drone with a thermal imaging camera and searchlight was even used. This drone took off near the gravel quarry near Fuhlen and searched the area extending over two square kilometers between Lachem and the Weser Bridge near Fuhlen. Despite the intensive search, no heat sources or the burning object could be found.
What causes are suspected?
What was this object that so unsettled the residents? The fire department and emergency services are faced with a puzzle because there are no reports of crashed planes or helicopters in the region. The possible explanations, such as a flare, a sky lantern or even a meteorite, are now being hotly debated.
This event is overshadowed by a similarly bizarre incident in the USA that already made the rounds in March 2024. An object, possibly debris from the International Space Station (ISS), crashed into a home in Naples, Florida. It left a large hole in the house, but luckily no one was injured. NASA is currently investigating the incident after US Space Command reported the re-entry of a bundle of spent batteries from the ISS on the same day. It is still unclear whether the object actually came from the ISS, but the incident shows that the sky can certainly have surprises in store, as Tag24 reports.
It remains to be seen whether the fire department and the responsible authorities in Lachem can clarify the mysterious object. In any case, residents are on alert and their eyes are still turned to the sky. Who knows what secrets the night sky still holds?
