Next Saturday, June 21, 2025, the party congress of the Bremen Left takes place, in which the party wants to take stock of the red-green-red coalition. - construction and urban development : The expansion of tram line 1 started and the concept for the redesign of the racetrack in Hemelingen has been created. Nevertheless, the target of 10,000 new apartments until 2023 remained behind expectations - only 7,056 were realized by the end of 2022.
- social and youth : Here the ombudsman for children and adolescents could be set up in youth welfare institutions, and the “Housing First” project has reached the desired number of people. However, there are still many construction sites, such as the lack of promotion of arrival quarters.
- Education : Digital progress in schools are remarkable - tablets were issued to all students and teachers. But the care of the age of three remains an unsolved problem.
- Environment and climate protection : A comprehensive climate protection package worth 2.5 billion euros was decided. Nevertheless, the coalitioners face the challenge of implementing the coal phase -out on time, which is complicated through geopolitical developments.
The upcoming discussions at the Bremen left party congress will therefore not only address the success, but also the failures of the previous legislative period. Necessary measures to improve the situation, especially in the area of affordable living space, are discussed as well as protection against patriarchal violence. This underlines the urgency to give these topics more space in urban development.

The red-green-red coalition was slowed down by the challenges of corona apandemia, which prevented many projects from implementing. Nevertheless, the alliance has managed to gain a deep insight into the needs of the city. Some of the new laws on social infrastructure, for example to increase the social quota for new construction projects to 30%, are well received and will provide positive impulses for the coming years. In order to participate in the topics of civil society, the Bremen Left will also look for dialogue inside and representatives: Interior of civil society.
