Nine new referees for the Hildesheim district: The next generation!
A lot is happening in the Holzminden district - the referee committee has rolled up its sleeves to bring new impetus to football. Following the latest merger, the committee faces a number of challenges. Games often have to be rescheduled at short notice due to a lack of available referees. This leads to unrest among the teams, who have to agree on a referee for the men's or youth division before the games. Sportnews Hildesheim reports that the referee committee has organized a referee candidate course for this reason.
A total of twelve candidates were able to learn the 17 rules of football during this course. The chairman of the referee committee, Marcin Kuczera, said he was ready to motivate the new candidates. The course content was taught in the towns of Bevern and Bodenwerder. The participants were made up of former referees and absolute beginners who are doing everything they can to qualify for refereeing.
Successful test and new referees
On October 25th things got serious: the exams were coming up. Of the twelve candidates, eight successfully passed the exam and can now call themselves referees. Unfortunately, four candidates had to hang their heads and will try again at the next online course. The new referees are:
- Marlon Linnemann (SCM Bodenwerder)
- Domenik Henning (TSV Kemnade)
- Elmedin Dangallaj (SV06 Holzminden)
- Rudi Böhme (SV Höckelheim)
- Len Böhland (VfL Nordstemmen)
- Falco Böhland (Concordia Hildesheim)
- Lucas Busche (SV Mehle)
- Thore Eilers (FC Herta Lütgenade Warbsen)
We would particularly like to highlight Rudi Böhme from the neighboring district of Northeim-Einbeck, who was the best in the year and received the referee's whistle. The deputy district chairman, Marc Dühring, congratulated the new referees and encouraged the failed candidates for their next attempt.
Lack of referees as a central problem
The shortage of referees is an issue that extends far beyond the district's borders. According to a recent Sports development report shows that amateur football in Germany is facing serious challenges. In particular, retaining and recruiting volunteers, referees and youth coaches is proving increasingly difficult. Over 20% of clubs see the refereeing issue as a very big problem. This situation means that board positions remain vacant, youth coaches are missing and individual teams can no longer be registered for games.
The report also shows that cooperation between clubs and schools is decreasing, which is limiting the visibility of football among children. Nevertheless, football remains a central part of club life and promotes social values such as community and participation. Sustainable political support and an upgrading of voluntary work are therefore urgently needed to secure the future of football.
Overall, it can be seen that the work of the referee committee in the Holzminden district is an important component in maintaining football culture. With fresh faces in the referee's uniform, more calm and stability could soon return to the games.
