Around December 6th and 7th, the charming old town of Lüneburg will be the scene of a very special event. The Lüneburg Old Town Working Group has been inviting visitors to the historic Christmas market for over 30 years. On these two days, visitors can immerse themselves in a contemplative atmosphere reminiscent of the 16th century. It starts on Saturday, December 6th, from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. and on Sunday, December 7th, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Lüneburg's old town is decorated with trade and craft stalls to create this magic. With over 60 stalls offering historical goods and inviting food, the market will feature a range of handmade products, chestnuts, lard bread and Renaissance sausages. According to Hamburg Tourism The specially staged market peace is symbolized by raising a banner with Saint Michael, while the city guards ensure that this peace is maintained.

Traffic information and parking options

As always with such events, it is important to adapt to the changing traffic situation in good time. Starting Thursday, December 4th, stand setup and some closures will begin. The streets will be closed from Johann-Sebastian-Bach-Platz to the junctions on the Meere/corner of Neue Straße and Am Iflock as well as in Untere and Obere Ohlingerstraße. From Friday, December 5th, parking will not be possible in the affected areas, and short-term parking zones will also be excluded during this time.

The best parking options are in the Sülzwiesen car park, in the Am Rathaus car park and in the City car park. In order to make the visit as pleasant as possible, a free Advent shuttle will be set up on Saturday that goes to the stops Platz Am Sande, train station, market square, car park Am Graalwall and Sülzwiesen.
